We hope that you have all enjoyed the festive break with your family and friends, hopefully avoiding the various viruses in circulation.
Year 1 visit to the Ugly Duckling
Both Year 1 classes really enjoyed the story of the Ugly Duckling as performed at the Tobacco Factory on Thursday. Peter said, “The show was good. It was a fairy tale and I liked the actors.” Daniel said, “The ugly duckling was really a cygnet.” Fardin thought that the theatre was “posh“
New Year discos
Now to the social highlight of the year - the school discos! These will be held on Friday January 18th.Tickets are £2.00 each and can be purchased during morning playtime starting from Monday. There are two discos. The first one is for Reception to Year 3 inclusive, commencing at 5.30pm and the second one commences at 7pm and is for Years 4, 5 and 6. The children do not need to bring any money as refreshments will be provided.
Ice skating day Saturday February 9th 1 – 4pm
A new event for our school is Ice Skating in the hall. More details will follow but basically this will be open to both adults and children. The cost will be £4.00 for a one hour session and tickets will have to be purchased in advance.
Dance performance
On Saturday February 9th our Year 3 / 4 dance club will be performing at the prestigious Stages festival of dance involving children from both the Primary and Secondary sectors in
Choir
Our choir will be performing at a Fair Trade concert on February 27th at 7.30pm, also at the Colston Hall. Choirs from other Primary Schools in
Today is the final date for payment for the Year 6 Poland educational Visit.
After school Sports activities this term
Your child, if they have expressed an interest, will have been given information about new clubs starting this term. These are Multi Sport on a Wednesday, Fun in Football on a Thursday and
Year 5/6 tennis is on a Monday and Year 1/2 tennis is on a Friday.
Students of the Week: Students of the Week in Year 6 are Georgia Kear for outstanding work in Science and Callum Ince for his progress in Maths.
Assembly Theme: Our assembly theme for next week is Memories
Cleaning Vacancies
Team Clean require two afternoon cleaners to start permanent positions from Friday 1st February at this school. The shift is from 3:30 until
5:30pm, 10 hours per week at £6.17p per hour. Please phone Tim Taylor on 07779113418 if you are interested.
Questionnaire for Parents
As an extended school we would are investigating what parental needs might be in terms of additional support / training etc. Please do complete and return the questionnaire overleaf by the end of January to enable us to consider how best to meet parent and family needs.
Cake
The next cake sale will be on March 5th at 3.15pm in the school hall and years 5and 6 will be asked to provide the cakes.
Tree Shredding / Grounds Tidy-up
Tomorrow is our annual Christmas tree shredding session and we would like to carry out some important maintenance jobs in the schools grounds. These will include:
- Pruning and tidying up borders and hedgerows
- Digging and preparing the allotment
- Making paths between borders in the allotment
- Creating a path in the conservation area
- General clearance and litter picking
There will be free coffee and biscuits for all helpers!
If you wish to have your tree shredded you can bring it along to school on the morning anytime before 12 noon and watch it being converted to mulch.
If you are coming to help please bring some gardening gloves and, if possible, a wheel barrow.
