After an easy journey down to Fairthorne the happy campers had just enough time to have their lunch and a quick tour of the site. However, there was no chance to relax as they were straight off down the Aerial Runway. The sun was shining and the birds were singing as everyone had a great time zooming through the trees and over the bluebells as they tried out the runway. Mrs Sims will be very interested to hear about this as this is her favourite activity! After the excitement of the runway Year 5 had a quick drink before putting on welly-boots and collecting their nets to go pond dipping. Happily no one fell in and they used identification sheets to discover what the different creatures they caught were. The next challenge involved identification of a different nature as they tried to work out which was the pillow case and which was the duvet cover as they battled with sheets in an attempt to make their beds. Ms Lewis said this was by far the most challenging activity of the afternoon and required lots of teamwork and patience. Year 5 rose admirably to the challenge and everyone’s bed (apart from the teachers’) is now made! As I was speaking to Ms Lewis the children were about to go into have dinner and feeling quite peckish. After dinner they are looking forward to a lovely sunny evening playing wide games in the grounds and exploring the beautiful site…. closely followed by cocoa and a good night’s sleep but not before writing postcards home and the first room inspection.
